I am complaining again. My rant is about this whole retro thing and i dig old tunes myself and all that good stuff but some people are taking their 80's nostalgia to a really annoying level. i really cant stand the fact that no matter where i go in the damn city I see guys with high top fades, swishy tracksuits and girls with side ponytails and legwarmers. Please lets let the past be just that. Lets try to be creative here and make new trends that in 20 years from now people with try to recreate. I just feel like there is a lack of creativity and risk when one is dressing like someone from the past. Why isnt nostalgia considered a mental disorder? I mean it is someone who idealizes the past(in most cases a past they've never lived)and idealize that time so much they want to dress up in a costume and walk around as if the past is the present. I mean you have to be completely insane to think that acid wash jeans are/were EVER cool. I think that people are so depressed with their lives that they wished 2008 where 1988. Times are hard and things are difficult but its been a beautiful year and a beautiful time and I think that if you are dressing like something out of a Spike Lee movie in a sense you are saying you are ashamed; that you dont want to acknowledge this time, the present. I think it would be dope, fly, funky fresh if we would all just stop it with the whole 80's thing. (fanny pack? WTF?!)
