Kimya Awesome.

I am in love with Kimya Dawson(a lil obsessed)and in two weeks i will be seeing her and all of her greatness live at the Black Cat . I am a little more than siked to be seeing Kimya. Ive been listening to her music for about three years now. i started listening to her when she was with The Moldy Peaches. When i first heard the Peaches i thought they were so different and so good but didnt take themselves so seriously. Kimya's voice is the most honest ive ever heard and her lyrics speak such truth. Kimya did a couple songs on the 'Juno' Soundtrack and the Title character plays one of her songs at the end of the movie. Kimya has become so huge since then and im so proud to see that people really enjoy her music as much as i do and how she is taking the rapid popularity. Her musical style combines the punk attitude,simplicity, and raw attitude of any Clash album with the lyrical genius and emotion of a Jeffrey Lewis(or a dylan maybe?) either way listening to her makes me so happy and(with the exception of Nirvana) she is the most important and my favorite musician ever. I love you Kimya<3

Say it aint so

Joaquin Phoenix's odd appearance on David letterman this week(2/11/09) has left me thinking "is he serious?" Mr. phoenix caveman like appearance,mumbled/quieted speech have all occured since his recent retirement from showbiz. Before Joaquin decided to quit the acting business to start a rap career(album not released) he seemed to be perfectly fine. It came as a shock from many people in the business and many people who like me are huge fans of his work. his retirement seemed abrupt and felt like a punch to the gut. So abrupt in fact that i cant possiblely believe that he is serious about retirement after only 14 years in the business being what most consider one of the greatest actors of his generation. I think he is either on some seriously heavy drugs(heroine,cocaine,maybe some hallucinogens) and isnt thinking rationally or this is the greatest prank played on the public ive ever seen. Either way im dying to know what is up with Joaquin. Maybe the depression of losing his older brother and fellow actor River Phoenix has finally caught up to him and he has decided to deal with the depression with drugs? is he so genius and such a brilliant actor that he can fool everyone? or maybe sometimes he likes to wear dark shades and look like the unibomber(thats a popular look for geniuses). All i have is my opinion and the gift of speculation but either way it is a loss. His choice of retiring saddens me but his choice to harm himself is even worse. I dont know why i care but i do.

Dear Mr.President

There is so much i could say about our new President. I could talk about his historic and well organized campaign and road to The White House. I could talk about his amazing speeches and how he may be one of the best orators of our time. I could talk about how he has given a country that had given up on government new faith in democracy. I could also talk about the millions of young people who decided to vote last year instead of sitting on their collective asses like in previous elections or maybe i should talk about the millions of people who gathered on that mall in Washington to see and for most just to hear the first black President be sworn in to office. maybe i should talk about how proud i am of my country and its ability to see truth and not the bullshit politics and how happy i am to be an American. or maybe i should speak about how awesome it is to be alive during this time to witness such greatness. I could talk about how cool it feels to be born in a city like this and live so close history as its being made. Maybe i should talk about how after eight years of Bush and circus politics its time for a President who doesn't have a mental illness and who actually is Presidential. Maybe i should talk about these things,but i wont.
